Hi peeps. In the following video I show you how to make a Junk Journal Cover with a soft spine.
I used an old book cover for the front and back, covered it with fabric and then made the soft spine with some grungy papers and fabric. I have a video tutorial on how to create your own grungy papers here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6OG2OntV1S0https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6OG2OntV1S0
I then glued the spine to the cover and put in some eyelets, and threaded some silk ribbon through the holes.

A junk journal is a type of handmade journal that is made by using a variety of materials, including scrapbook paper, old book pages, magazine cutouts, ephemera, and other found objects. The idea behind a junk journal is to create a beautiful and unique journal using materials that might otherwise be thrown away or overlooked.
Junk journals can be used for a variety of purposes, including as a daily journal, travel journal, scrapbook, or art journal. They are often filled with a mix of writing, artwork, and other memorabilia, such as tickets, receipts, and photos.
If you’re interested in creating a junk journal, here are some tips on how to get started:
Gather Materials: Start by collecting a variety of materials to use in your journal. This can include old magazines and newspapers, scrapbook paper, vintage postcards, and other ephemera. You can also include papers which are designed especially to make junk journals and scrapbooks, which you can just download and print, like the ones I sell in my ETSY SHOP
Create Your Cover: Use a sturdy material like cardboard or chipboard for your cover. You can decorate it with paint, fabric, or other materials to create a unique design.
Bind Your Journal: There are several ways to bind a junk journal, including using a sewing machine or hand-stitching. You can also use rings or a binder to hold your pages together.
Decorate Your Pages: Use your materials to decorate each page of your journal. Add pockets, tabs, and other interactive elements to make it more interesting.
Start Journaling: Once your journal is complete, it’s time to start using it! Use it to jot down your thoughts, sketch, or document your travels. You can also use it as a scrapbook to collect and display your favorite memories.
In conclusion, a junk journal is a fun and creative way to document your life and express your creativity. By using a variety of materials and techniques, you can create a truly unique journal that reflects your personal style and interests. Give it a try and see where your creativity takes you!
